I am the BLUE TEAM US History teacher and Team Leader. I am looking forward to an exciting year in helping all students learn about US History from the colonial period through Reconstruction.
This fall we focused on a review of geography, causes of exploration and colonization, the formation, economy, and lifestyle of the 13 English colonies, events that led to the American Revolution, the war itself, and our first attempts to create an independent government.
During the Spring semester we will study the Constitution and how it was set up, early problems and growth of our new nation, industrialization, nationalism, manifest destiny, and the sectional issues that led to the Civil War. After the TAKS test, we will study Reconstruction and it's long-term effects.
We will also focus on preparing the BLUE Team students for the TAKS test,including learning the historical information and test-taking strategies to help students be successful. The Social Studies TAKS test will be administered on Friday, May 2, 2008.
Students who need a quiet place to complete homework or extra help with Social Studies are welcome to attend tutorials in my classroom from 8:00 - 8:30 AM and 3:45 - 4:30 PM. Monday - Thursday a tutorial bus runs at 4:30.
TESTING DATES:
Benchmark -- Febuary 27 and 28
TAKS -- Friday, May 2
