I hope that everyone will have a great summer and come back ready to work. We will be having a lot of new and exciting changes in the Art room this upcoming school year. We will be offering to the 8th graders Art 1 for High School credit along with the Introduction to Art that we have offered in the past years.
We will be learning about the following art medias in the next school year:

General Information About Art:
In both of the art classes we will be looking at and learning about the Principles/Elements of Art. Students will learn how to use these elements effectively in their art to create view interest. In art our goal is to introduce the students to the different art medias and the history as well. Students will leave the class with a basic understanding about art, art history and the methods behind creating art. Students will learn how to draw using both black & white and color techniques. We will also look into art history and see how the different cultures have an influence on the art of today.
In the Art 1 for credit will encourage the students to gain a deeper understanding about art and the history behind it. They will be creating new and exciting projects that will be a challenge but great fun as well. We will be looking into the history and artist that have been an influence to art and the world around them. The students will be participating in several art exhibits and completions throughout the year. We will be creating a flag design for the Youth Art Month, PTA Reflections contest, Fire Prevention Contest, Permian Basin Fair and Expo exhibit, Museum of the Southwest art show, Texas Art Educator Art Show, Junior High Visual Art Scholastic Event (JrVASE), along with many more shows and contests. |
