Welcome to the class of fourth grade champions. I am so excited to share this year with you and your child.This is my 21st year to teach elementary children. I received my undergraduate degree fom Texas Tech University. Therefore, I am an avid RED RAIDER football and basketball fan! I received my masters degree from the University of North Texas in Mid-Managegement. However, I enjoy touching the lives of my students directly in the classroom so my administrative ambitions are on hold for a few more years until my own two precious children are older and more independent.
As the fourth grade writing, spelling, English, and social studies teacher, I will be guiding your child throughout the year so that they become successful writers, spellers, and Texas historians. It is my dream to lead your child to a world where they truly enjoy writing, and they learn how to use words to paint pictures so that the people who are reading their stories, letters, or even their very own books, can visulaize their ideas clearly. I want to encourage children to write because it's fun not simply to make a "good" grade. However,we will be preparing to master the writing TAKS test on February 19,2008, so "some" of our writing will be geared to testing prompts so that we ensure student success.
Fourth graders will focus their study on our home state of Texas during social studies. Our curriculum covers Texas geography, the four natural regions, early Texans, European Texans, conflicts in Texas, the Republic of Texas, Texas statehood, Texans and the Civil War, and Texas government.
