ORCHESTRA GRADING POLICY
|
| Initial placement is based upon an audition held at the end of the spring semenster. Opportunity to advance is provided at the end of the fall semester. Placement in each orchestra is subject to change depending upon the student's participation, attitude and quality of work. |
50% - Participation Attendance in class with all necessary equipment Observance of the tardy policy as stated in the student handbook Attendance at section rehearsals and clinics Attendance at all performances Participation at UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest Being in the right place at the right time, with the necessary equipment and the proper attitude.
50% - Evaluation and Testing Playing tests will be conducted on a regular basis. The auditions will be graded and the students will be placed in chairs accordingly. |

ORCHESTRA LETTERING POLICY
|
In order to receive a letter award: ...A student must be a member in good standing. (good attendance, good work ethics, great attitude) ...A student must participate at all required orchestra activities designated by the directors (sectionals, concerts, clinics, contests, national contests) unless excused in advance. ...A student must make the All-Region Orchestra, All-City Orchestra or receive a I or II division rating or a Class I or II solo or ensemble at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest. ...A student must maintain a "B" average during the school year in orchestra. ...A student must have no citizenship grade less than an "S" in orchestra. |
