Welcome to Kindergarten! We are extremely pleased to be welcoming your child into our classrooms this school year. We look forward to working with you in order to make your child’s educational adventure an enjoyable one. We feel that if parents and teachers work together to further the sense of discovery and success, a bond is formed that cannot be broken. Therefore, we will do everything in our power to make this an enjoyable and educational year for everyone.
Listed below is some general information to help make your child’s transition to school as smooth as possible.
• The school day is from 8:10 to 3:10. Please make sure that your child is dropped off and picked up promptly.
• Our school serves ”Breakfast Express” to the students from 7:50 to 8:10am. This is a FREE meal served to the students in the classroom, regardless of economic status. Please take advantage of this opportunity. Because we have so much to accomplish during our day, your child will need to be here before the 8:10 bell to eat.
• If you need to bring your child before 7:50, they will need to wait in the cafeteria, not in the hallway or classroom. There is supervision provided from 7:30 until the 7:50 bell.
• Our lunch is at 11:00-11:30(Recess to follow - 11:30-12:00). If you choose to purchase your child’s lunch at school, it is $1.85 (unless you qualify for free or reduced lunches). You are encouraged to deposit extra money into your child’s account for meals.
• Any medicines (in their original containers) that your child needs to take during the school day should be taken to the school nurse. Please, also report all communicable diseases to the office and nurse immediately.
• Write a note if early dismissal is necessary for doctor or dentist appointment, or if your child will be picked up by someone other than his or her usual pick-up.
• Send a note explaining every absence.
• Please be sure to look at the supply list that is in your child’s packet. (see link on homepage for list) There is no need to label supplies (other than backpack), because we compile supplies and share!
• Our conference period is from 12:45-1:30 daily. There is a clipboard located outside of your child's room. If you would like to speak to us, please leave your name and phone number and we will call you at the first available time. • We will dismiss your children in the front of the school under the awning at 3:05. Due to safety issues, please wait for your child at this location and not in the hallways.
We will be sending home various communications throughout the school year. It is very important to read EVERYTHING that comes home in you child’s daily folder.
School policy states that every child must read each night. Your child will have a reading folder that is to be signed nightly.
We look forward to a successful year of learning!
*** More to come soon!!
