TAKS Testing Standards for the 8th Grade |
| Due to the "Student Success Initiative" legislation, beginning with the 2007-2008 school year 8th grade students must pass the reading and math portions of the TAKS test to be eligible for promotion to the 9th grade. Each student will be given two opportunities to pass each test during the school year, and students needing a third administration of either test will be required by state law to attend summer school. A third round of testing will be given after completion of summer school. In addition, 8th graders must also take the science and social studies portion of the test. Although promotion to the 9th grade is not dependent upon these two tests, they are very important for our school accountability ratings. |
TAKS Testing Dates |
Math: April 8, 2008; May 13, 2008 and July 1, 2008
Reading: March 4, 2008; April 30, 2008 and July 2, 2008
Science: May 1, 2008
Social Studies: May 2, 2008
