James Riggen - Director of School Plant Services |
The Office of School Plant Services (SPS) dedicates all efforts and resources to promote student learning. This dedicated effort provides a clean, safe and comfortable environment for all students and staff through effective use of facilities to promote education.
The highly qualified and diversified workforce at School Plant Services is responsible for Carpentry, Door & Lock, Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC), Preventive Maintenance (PM), Electric, Paint, Plumbing, Mill-Work, Environmental Services, Grounds, Technology, Energy Management, and Custodial Departments for the Midland Independent School District (MISD) in Midland Texas.
School Plant Services has a combined budget of approximately $10,000,000 with 250 full time employees. • The Maintenance Department employs qualified workers at a minimum cost for painting, mill-work, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, doors & lock and environmental services.
• The Grounds Department is very efficient. With a limited number of employees, this department maintains over 350 acres.
• The Technology Department consists of very capable employees that insure the integrity of the District computers and electronic equipment.
• The Energy Management Department recognizes the responsibility to the District and community to conserve energy without sacrificing health, safety, and security for students or educational personnel.
• The Custodial Department provides a clean, safe and functional environment for students and staff.
• Research shows that services such as these would be much more costly if individually contracted to outside sources.
