The Auxiliary Services Division is the District's largest support service organization in terms of personnel and budget. This division, consisting of 486 full time employees, maintains all facilities, grounds care, custodial services, environmental services, energy management, security services, transportation, and construction management. Construction management includes facility assessment and planning, remodeling, rehabilitation and modernization of existing facilities, as well as new facility construction. These support departments are based on the most economical operations to allow for personnel and property protection and adaptation to the changing educational environment and programs.
The Midland Independent School District, encompassing 765 square miles, consists of 45 permanent facilities and 105 single classroom portable buildings, totaling over 3,000,000 square feet. All facilities are located on 600 plus acres of district property. Midland ISD operates 186 buses on 15 different types of routes, from early childhood and magnet schools to regular education, special education, and extracurricular.
The school building and school bus are the most costly tools in the educational process and is, to the public eye, the most tangible symbol of an ideal. The Auxiliary Services Division combines money, personnel, materials, and methods into a planned program that provides the greatest possible support to educators, students, and our community.
