MHS Production of "Into the Woods" |
Theatre Arts and Production Theatre Arts classes are offered at all MISD junior high, freshman and high school campuses. Students learn acting, improvisation, directing and design. Technical theatre arts are explored, as well. Set and costume construction, make-up, lighting and sound are all part of the MISD production experience.
Performance opportunities couple with tournament venues to enhance and enrich instruction for the interested, active theatre student. UIL One-Act Play Contest, Texas Thespians Individual Events, Texas Forensic League meets and National Forensic League district provide the competitive balance to the creative arts.

"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" In May, for the last show of the season, MHS Theatre treated audiences to the classic comedy, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." Written by Stephen Sondheim and Larry Gelbart, the play steals its plot from the ancient Roman writings of Plautus. His stories give us the requisite wiley servants, saucy courtesans and bumbling old men. "Forum" brings the promised "comedy" and "tragedy" to the audience. To the company it brings the opportunity to be part of an enduring piece of American theatre. |
