Welcome to Rusk Elementary’s Website. Rusk is located in the southwest quadrant of Midland and offers a diverse neighborhood that we share with Lee High School. The Rusk Patriots range from kindergarteners to sixth graders. We offer a TEKS based curriculum with an emphasis on powerful learning.
The core character traits are integrated into instruction from kindergarten through sixth grade. The character education committee holds a monthly Character Luncheon where one child per class is chosen to represent their class, enjoy a pizza lunch with their guests, and hear a guest speaker. Student success is celebrated with an academic awards assembly at the end of each six weeks.
The entire campus is involved in our annual Veteran’s Day Program where older students perform a USO type show and younger grades participate in patriotic songs. Over 300 veterans are honored annually at the Commemorative Air Force Hangar. Students present our special guests with a token of our appreciation and enjoy lunch with them under the wings of bombers and other planes housed in the hangar. Each veteran enjoys handwritten letters by the Rusk Patriots thanking them for their service to our country.
Rusk students benefit from an active PTA that fills many needs for our students. Volunteers enter the school daily and log in countless hours of service. The Rusk PTA has worked hand in hand with the staff to make a positive environment for our students at Rusk and to provide many instructional materials that our budget could not afford us.
Rusk Elementary offers an excellent education with dedicated staff, parents, business partners, and neighbors of the school which creates a strong learning community for our students.
