LHS Mission Statement |
The individual student, with unique interests and needs, is the core of the entire curriculum at Robert E. Lee High School. The faculty believes that every student can learn. This belief is the center of faculty interest in each student’s level of achievement. It is the foundation of the instructional program through which success and progress can be achieved. Although methods vary from teacher to teacher, each classroom is designed to produce an atmosphere in which the student can learn and value learning. Regardless of the student’s capabilities, the teacher provides a program to challenge and to interest the student in obtaining high standards of achievement. If a student’s goals include a higher education, then thorough and sound preparation for that pursuit will be found at Lee High School. The curriculum at Lee High School is designed to help the student develop efficient problem-solving abilities which are based on self-discipline. Problem-solving abilities are supported by teacher guidance and example, offered in a way that makes it possible for a student to achieve self guidance through periods of transformation and adjustment during his/her high school years. Oral and written communication skills are deemed extremely valuable to a student’s education and are developed in every possible learning situation. With a curriculum that offers much variety and depth in content, the student is given many opportunities and is encouraged to make independent decisions even when faced with a variety of alternatives. Lee High School is dedicated to developing the whole student with respect to each student’s individuality. Professional and conscientious attitudes prevail in the faculty and administration who work diligently to contribute to the growth of each individual student. A major contribution to that growth is the wide array of extracurricular activities which Lee High School offers because through them students learn to set, pursue, and accomplish group goals and develop a sense of pride. It is this experience which is the foundation of our American society.
