Abell Student Council

Student Council is an active organization that promotes citizenship, leadership, and school pride. We are involved in the Thanksgiving basket program with Casa de Amigos and Christmas Angel Tree with the Salvation Army. You can see us at the Homecoming parade and at home games (visit our concession stand). STUCO holds several dances throughout the school year with our Valentine's Day dance being the most popular. To encourage school attendance, every six weeks we offer $25 to a student with perfect attendance from each team. Additionally, we hold a Christmas door decorating contest and put goodie bags together for teacher appreciation.

Abell Eagle Newspaper

The Abell Eagle is a student-written newspaper utilizing both seventh and eighth grade volunteers. Students cover the activities and awards of the Screaming Eagles. Mrs. Hayes in Room 118 is the sponsor and coordinator. This is a flexible organization; a writer may be too busy to submit for one issue but is welcome to rejoin when his/her schedule is not so hectic. Write on, Eagles!

"Aerie" (Abell Yearbook)

The Abell Jr. High yearbook is compiled with student assistance. Meetings are called as needed; they are held in the Abell library before school. Yearbooks are ordered at school by all students on Direct Solutions Day in October and sent directly to Jostens (yearbook company) by Ms. Knight. Jostens sends invoices to individual homes; invoices are paid directly to Jostens. A limited supply of extra yearbooks are ordered and may be purchased at Abell after the Jostens deadline date. Yearbooks are distributed in May on Yearbook Signing Day. |

Abell Spanish Club

The Spanish Club is primarily a social organization which unites those seventh and eight grade students who are studying Spanish this year. Meetings are held every two weeks on Tuesdays at 8:15 a.m. in Mr. Ochoa's room (#136). The $2.00 club dues are used to support the club's activities. Spanish club activities do change every year. |
