On the first and second offense, the student may pick up the prohibited electronic device at the end of the school day in accordance with campus procedures. (At Abell no phones, or any other electronic devices will be returned until 4:30 p.m.). On the third and subsequent offenses, and in addition to disciplinary consequences as set forth in the Student Code of Conduct, the item will be held for five school days, a fine of up to $15.00 will be assessed, and the item will only be returned to the parent/guardian in accordance with campus procedures.
The campus and/or district is not responsible for loss or theft of prohibited items listed in this category.
Please note that the Texas Education Agency now required school districts to implement procedures preventing the use of cell phones by students during test administrations. In an effort to comply with this requirement, please be advised that possession and/or use of cell phones or paging devices by students during test administrations will result in disciplinary action under the penalties for academic dishonesty. Also, the state requires that students who possess, display, turn on, or use cell phones or paging devices during the administration of a state test must have that test coded for a test administration irregularity. Tests with the "irregularity code will not be scored by the state and, consequently, the student will not meet state requirements for the test.
