Delayed Opening of School Information

When early morning weather conditions make it necessary to close or delay the opening of schools, the Superintendent or his designee shall notify the news media as early as possible on the morning in questions (in all cases by 6:00 a.m.) regarding the decision. If a decision to delay school opening is made, all starting times will be postponed two or more hours. Students shall be prepared to board the bus two or more hours later than the regular time.

Morning half-day classes will be canceled.
Cafeterias will not prepare breakfast. Noon meals will be prepared to accommodate adjusted schedules.
All principals and auxiliary staff (including teacher assistants) will report to work at regular times, if possible. Teachers and students will follow the delayed schedule. Field Trips scheduled for the morning of delayed school opening should be canceled and rescheduled by the principal.
Each principal shall have a pre-planned alternate class and lunch schedule designed to best meet student needs.
